INTERVIEW

Tell us about your book?

Thanks so much for having me today!

Red Kingdom is the second standalone installment in my series of dark, realistic fairy tale retellings. This one’s a dark reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood—where the Black Wolf is an enigmatic knight on a quest for vengeance, and Little Red is the princess whose castle he conquers.

I’m excited to announce that Red Kingdom and Beauty of the Beast are now available on Kindle Unlimited!

What is the PRIMARY benefit, above all others, that your potential reader will gain from reading this book?

Red Kingdom is not an easy ready. It’s dark. Bold. And violent. Like the time in which it’s set—the medieval era—it’s a story of contrasts: light and dark, hope and despair, love and loss, treachery and trust.

But most importantly, it’s a story of finding yourself and discovering love despite every adversity—about finding hope in the darkest of times.

If you’re ready to brave blood-soaked battlefields and the war-torn setting of the medieval era, you’ll love this epic story!

If you had to compare this book to any other book out there, which book would it be?

I’d say Game of Thrones, but with much more emphasis on the romance. The setting is similar: the theme of warring kingdoms, treasonous “players,” the overall tone… and of course there’s Smoke, Rowan’s wolf!

Hundreds of thousands of books come out every year. Why should someone buy THIS book?

Because it’s unlike any book you’ve read before. And it’s certainly different that any romance. It’s also not your typical fantasy-esque Little Red Riding Hood retelling. There’s no shapeshifting werewolf. Or faeries. There’s something much more dangerous and tragic at hand: an honorable but fierce knight (The Black Wolf) who’s on a ten-year quest for vengeance. And Princess Blanchette and her family will suffer from it. (Can she tame the Black Wolf?)

Who is your target audience?

Anyone who loves romantic stories and Game of Thrones will enjoy Red Kingdom. But due to the graphic themes and violence, it’s for adults only.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage?

I won’t get too personal or sappy here—but I’ve had my fair share of trials. Life hasn’t always been easy, but knowing that suffering, I believe, has allowed me to become more empathetic. And that’s carried through to my writing, to my stories, and, most importantly to my characters. I’ve channeled my own experiences into them, giving them an authenticity and heart that might have otherwise never existed.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since publishing your work?

Honestly, just connecting with new readers! I write books to move readers’ emotions, and when I connect with a reader—and see firsthand how many stories and characters have moved them… well, that’s everything.

How would you describe your writing style?

Dark. Atmospheric. Emotionally charged. Sensual. Character-driven.

Extremely visual.

Many readers have likened my writing to watching a movie play in their heads.

Are you more of a character artist or a plot-driven writer?

Both! I always work off a solid plot outline, but that’s just a map. And, like with a map, during the writing journey, I often take artistic detours or complete re-routes. I simply go where my characters lead me.

What do you hope to accomplish with your book other than selling it?

I hope to move readers across the world and connect with many of them personally.

That’s my dream.

How can our readers get in touch with you?

I’d love that! Everyone, please connect with me!

About the Author

I live in Sunny California with my dashing husband, who inspires my romance novels every day!

Writing has always been an integral part of my identity. Before I physically learned how to write, I’d narrate stories to my mom, and she’d record them for me.

I graduated from Chapman’s film school, where I often received the feedback on my scripts, “Your stories and characters are great, but this reads like a novel!” That’s when I realized my true calling.

In my free time, I frequent reptile expos, lift double my body’s weight, and indulge in dinosaur trivia.

I’m passionate about writing stories that explore what it means to be human and to be loved. My books focus on hope, courage, and redemption in the face of adversity.
